About the fiber

Abaca, also known as ‘Manila hemp,’ is one of the strongest fibers in textiles. Extracted from the heart of the trunk of banana plants from Ecuador or the Philippines (Musa textilis), it is used in haute couture fashion and interior design. It allows for the creation of rich, refined colors while providing a subtle transparency. The fiber is obtained through an environmentally friendly process called plant retting, ensuring the thread is 100% plant-based. The artisanal treatment of the fiber offers great creative possibilities for making blinds, Japanese screens, or wall coverings.

Abaca 3

Letting light through while preserving privacy. Playing with transparency while emphasising natural texture: this is the art that these Japanese-inspired abaca panels master to perfection. Alongside them, raffia and hemp create a harmonious whole, diffusing their own authentic and organic aura, a discreet theatre of light.
